My name is Laura Freire and I'm an artist based in Pontevedra (Galicia, Spain). Although I'm now back in my hometown, I spent many years living abroad.
Italy, Ireland, Catalonia, Czech Republic… All of them, together with Galicia, contributed to my artistic path through experiences in education, work, and their inspiring nature.
Nature is in fact the main source for my work. I explore the impressions of landscape and its changing caracter both through the real-time experience of plein air painting and the long term process of the memory.
I feel a special connection with drawing techniques (pencil, graphite, pastels) and watercolor, and they often combine in mixed media pieces.
All pieces shown are my original artwork, made by me in the studio or in plein air locations.

Me llamo Laura Freire y soy una artista basada en Pontevedra (Galicia, España), mi lugar de origen al que volví después de bastantes años fuera.
Italia, Irlanda, Cataluña, la República Checa… Todos estos lugares, junto con Galicia, contribuyeron a mi camino artístico a través de experiencias de formación, trabajo y su naturaleza inspiradora.
La naturaleza es, de hecho, la principial fuente de mi trabajo. En mi obra exploro las impresiones del paisaje y su naturaleza cambiante tanto a través de la experiencia en tiempo real de la pintura al aire libre como en los procesos a largo término de la memoria.
Siento una conexión especial con las técnicas de dibujo (lápiz, grafito, pastel) y con la acuarela, que a menudo se combinan en obras de técnica mixta.
Todas las piezas son mi obra original, hecha por mi en el estudio o en lugares al aire libre.
